SOS Guest DT Layout

I was picked to be a guest DT memeber for the month of March over at Scrap Our Stash. This month's challenge was to dust of something that has been sitting around unused.

Well, anybody that knows me knows that I have a love/hate thing going on with my Cricut Expression. I love to complain about it because I really hate using it. I have hardly touched it in the year and a half that I have had it. So, this challenge was the perfect excuse for me to sit down and learn how to use this thing.

To begin, I posted about my Cricut plight on Two Peas in a Bucket where this lovely pea pointed me in the direction of a you tube video that she thought would help. (thanks to this Pea, whomever you are) I watched the video twice, and with the help of my 12 year old Godson, I was up and running.

For this layout, I wanted to create a title that was welded together, and would be one piece when I was done. I learned to nudged, kern, weld, adjust, and curse all at once. After about 9 tries, this is what I ended up with.

I cut the title out of pp, which took a few tries to get the edges to cut cleanly. I had to adjust pressure and speed and whatnot.  I can tell you with all honesty that I love how the title came out. I punched, distress, and shaped the flowers with water until they were how I wanted them. When dried, I added fabric brads to the centers.

What I have learned during this challenge was that technology isn't so bad. Will I use the Cricut and the software again? I already have; 4 more times. Will it make my scrapping faster and easier? Probably not. Do I think this gadget is worth it for me in the end? Well, since it was a gift, and I don't buy cartridges, the intial investment is already done with. So for me, my Cricut Expression is finally a keeper!

Thanks for stopping by-

Well you certainly did lots of multi tasking with your 'nudge,weld,kern....' - I have to confess to not having one so I cannot properly appreciate all those terms! Your LO is beautiful and the title gorgeous, I love the flowers so it was definately worth dusting off your cricut :)
